The 2017/2018 edition of the High Plains Register is finally here. And it was worth the wait.
This year’s journal includes work from Montana, Colorado, Oklahoma and California as well as throughout Wyoming. And we look forward to the day when we can include places like Australia and Ethiopia in our list.
We only accept quality work, some of our submitters are students, others consider themselves professionals, and still others, just dabblers. But because quality is in the eye of the beholder, each submission goes through a ‘blind’ submission process, being evaluated by our staff without regard to the submitter. We look for pieces than can make us think, or reflect, or feel.
Our staff strives to make each edition of the Register better than the last. This year we are proud to revive two genres that have not appeared in our publication for a number of years, Drama and Music. They join the other categories of Poetry, Creative Nonfiction, Fiction, and Visual Arts that the High Plains Register has always been known for.
Writers, poets, and artists can create whole new worlds, or new perceptions of the old, worn world we live in. We hope that as you read this issue, we can make you laugh, or cry, or maybe see the world in a different way. And, just maybe, you’ll want to send us your own version of the world so that next year we might have the privilege of sharing it with our future readers.
The HPR staff is hard at work evaluating submissions for the 2019 edition to be released in the spring, but you can order this year’s edition now. Price only 7 dollars (shipping included) for dozens of poems, stories, and artwork). Order form is available on our website: HighPlainsRegisterLCCC.com.
